After getting shot in the leg while reporting on a Civil War battlefield, Starr writes that Church "produced an account to make Charles Pfaff proud of him."

Parry, Albert. Garrets and Pretenders: A History of Bohemianism in America. New York: Covici, Friede, 1933. [pages:37]

According to Parry, her name was the first of many mentioned by Pfaff and Whitman when they toasted the deceased Bohemians in 1881.
